The Porcelain Veneers Procedure
Your smile is often the first thing other people notice. In order to achieve your best and brightest smile, you might opt for porcelain veneers to improve the appearance of your teeth. Before you choose this cosmetic procedure, start by learning more about how veneers work and how they are applied. Discuss your options with your dentist and consider some of the following options before you decide if veneers are right for your unique needs.
Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers are one of the most popular options with patients looking for fast results. Veneers can help correct a number of cosmetic problems, including discolorations, chipped teeth, gaps in the teeth and crooked teeth. While other corrective methods often take months to produce results, veneers offer an effective way to get quick results. Since veneers are thin, natural looking and minimally invasive, they are a top choice for many patients looking for a brighter, healthier looking smiles.
The Porcelain Veneer Procedure
So, just how do porcelain veneers work? In the initial stages of the procedure, you and your dentist will discuss your goals and what you hope to achieve with veneers. At this point, your dentist will determine if you are a good candidate for porcelain veneers or if alternative cosmetic method would be more appropriate for your needs. Next, the front surfaces of the teeth will be lightly abraded in order to help the veneers adhere and fit naturally onto the teeth.
The second stage of the procedure involves actually creating the porcelain veneers that will cover the surface of your teeth. A mold of your teeth will be taken, from which the thin veneers will be crafted. Once the veneers are ready to be placed over your teeth, an adhesive will be applied and a special light will be used to help harden the bonding agent. When the procedure is complete, you will have a natural looking smile that will last for years to come. |
